Plasma Pen, the filler alternative!

Finally, the aging population and those aging gracefully have an alternative choice to filler and plastic surgery!

The FDA approved Plasma Pen (Revelation) by Plasma Concepts has awarded the esthetic world a way in which we can lift, firm and tone our skin without changing our natural look. This is a low-risk procedure with minimal discomfort, downtime or side effects.

How does this energy work?

The hand piece (looks like a pen) converts electrical energy into electrostatic energy which creates plasma energy. The Plasma Pen flashes, causes micro-trauma to the epidermis, transfers heat to the dermis, and activates fibroblasts! These fibroblasts multiply and multiply making collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Just what we need to reverse our aging.

Collagen is the main component of the dermis and gives our skin structure, strength and flexibility. It is also the end result of the healing process. After age 25, collagen regenerating slows. Elastin allows the skin to stretch and recoil to its original shape. Elastin production is reduced to a trickle by the age of 40! Hyaluronic acid is a charged molecule that is attracted to water or hydrophilic. Hyaluronic acid holds vast amounts of water in the skin keeping it hydrated.

What is micro-trauma you ask with the Plasma Pen?

It looks like immediate, multiple, round scabs in the area treated. This is controlled trauma to the skin. The healing process begins. Inflammation starts, blood flow increases, fibroblast cells are stimulated to create collagen cells, growth factor is released and the collagen deposits. The skin is rejuvenated by this generation of new cells. The collagen and elastin production continues for weeks and months after this “micro-trauma”.

The results of the controlled trauma allow healing of the skin through it’s natural process. This process happens over the course of 12 weeks and beyond. Some folks may require a second or third treatment. We can help you to plan appropriately. You will start to see results after one week but patience is required. The maximum benefit is seen at 12 weeks.

This treatment does require the use of topical numbing creams. You should expect the healing time to be about 7 days. It can take this long for the scabs to fall off. We consider this social downtime, so may not want to socialize for this time period. You’ll follow specific instructions for post care, too.

The results of Plasma Pen treatments (listed above) can last up to 3 years!

Sadly, our skin continues to age over time and you may want to have plasma treatments again. This is honestly true with any anti-aging treatments you may choose.
